Quick Little Update

Hello All,

Not much has been going on with us lately which is why there has been a lack of blog posts. For the past week and few days we've been staying with some of our new friends here on the island. We're still waiting for a house and the hotel we were staying at wasn't available anymore so they opened their home to us. It's been a lot of fun staying with them and I'm so glad I've had someone to hangout with. We're actually going to change houses today though, we're going to be staying with some other friends for about a week until the hotel is available for us. We're so thankful that other families are being so helpful and nice to us while we're still trying to figure this place out.

As for housing we have received a house, however we cannot move in until December 28-January 3 (sometime between those dates, hopefully December 28)! It's also only a few blocks away from our friends so I'll be able to visit whenever Michael is at work. Our personal belongings that were packed up and shipped have already arrived here in Hawaii (about 2 weeks early), however we won't be able to have them delivered until we have a house. We also still don't have our car, which stinks, however Michael bought himself a bike so he's been able to bike to work. Hopefully our car gets here sooner because we wanna start going to the beach more!

Michael is also really enjoying work. He says the people are awesome, he still gets to work on KC10's every now and then, and he likes learning about the new planes that he is working on. As for video games he still finds the time to sit on his laptop and play games, so don't worry I'm not depriving him of them, he plays just as much as ever.

Tony isn't such a big fan of Hawaii, but that's mainly because he's trapped in rooms most of the time. He can't roam free like he's used to in our old apartment, but soon he'll be able to be as hyper as he wants to be. He's just as cuddly as ever and is still eating like a fatty.

As for me I'm really enjoying our time here. Making friends fast has definitely made this stressful move much more fun. I'm just really looking forward to getting our house and getting all settled in. Once we get everything moved in and things start to settle down I plan on getting a job and starting school. I'm going to try to get a job somewhere on base and will be taking Vet Tech classes online, hopefully I'll be able to finish my classes quickly!

For Christmas we'll be keeping it very low key since this move has made a very big dent for us financially, so don't be surprised if you don't get Christmas presents until January or February when things have settled. We will also be setting up a P.O. Box soon (Michael's had that job for about a month now but it hasn't happened, tomorrow the meanie wife will come out) so if you have anything to send us let me know and I'll get you the address!

That's it for now, hopefully this wasn't too much to take it. Things haven't been too hectic here and if anything changes we'll be sure to update everyone.

Hawaii Week 1

Hello all! This has been a very interesting and life changing week. We have been in Hawaii for about a week and so far we love it here! The people are nice, the food is good, and the beaches are amazing. So far this week has been pretty laid back with a few ups and downs. Work wise Michael spent most of the week getting in-processed to the new base and I spent my time in the hotel waiting for him to come back. We are still waiting for a house here on base and were told it's going to be a 2-4 month wait, we highly doubt it will be that long, but we are calling everyday hoping to annoy the housing office so much that they will give us a house sooner (so far it's not working too well). The hotel we're staying at is also being difficult, they say they don't have rooms open after next week so we have no idea where we're going to stay. We also won't have our car until the middle of December, so we've had a rental car for the past week, it may be convenient, but it is getting expensive. However we can't complain too much because we are in Hawaii.

We've already met some really nice people here and are making friends fast! The environment and the feel of the base is much different than it was at McGuire, however we still miss our friends there! Thankfully the people here are very welcoming and are super helpful. We've had people feed us multiple times, offer to show us around, I also spent the day with one of some of these awesome people when the hotel was doing a day long maintenance routine. We also won't be alone for Thanksgiving, two different families offered us a place at their table. Sunday we're going surfing for the first time which will be interesting, hopefully we come back in one piece!

Overall we love it here already, we just wish we were in our house! Hopefully soon we'll be given a house so that we can get more into a groove here. We miss everyone so much already and the time difference is really throwing us off, being 5 hours behind everyone at home makes communication a little bit harder! Remember to call or text us whenever you'd like and we'd love to Skype or Facetime with anyone who wants to! We're also open to people visiting us whenever they feel like it, especially when we get our guest bedroom up and running!

Love & Miss you all!

1 More Week

It's crazy to think that 1 week from today we will be in Hawaii. It seems like yesterday it was June and Michael had gotten orders to Hickam and now we're a week away. Tomorrow the movers will come and get all of our stuff, they pack it and carry it down to a moving van so we don't have to do too much work. I'm making lists of stuff that we have so that we can be sure that we get it (some veteran Air Force wife advice I was given). We're also about to pack all of the clothes that we will need this week and that we will have for about a month and a half while we wait for the rest of our stuff to arrive in Hawaii. We won't be getting our stuff until the middle of December (or so they say, it'll probably be longer). We are also very far down on the base housing list so we will be staying in a hotel for possibly a month or longer. We're in for a treat.

This week has been very quiet, just preparing for the movers and the move. We had a little goodbye/21st birthday party for me which was fun. There was even ice cream cake thanks to my best friend here. I also finally got to hangout with one of my Air Force girls that I have known for over a year which was a ton of fun!

Leaving here is going to be sad, but we're going on an adventure. We're going to miss all of our friends dearly but we're so excited for what Hawaii has in store for us!

Gettysburg & Petting Zoo

I'm not sure how many of you knew about this but on our wedding night the hotel we were supposed to stay at canceled on us (so we ended up staying at Michael's grandparent's house). However we were given a $100 Expedia coupon, so we spent it and went to Gettysburg for the day followed by a petting zoo and IKEA the next day. It was so much fun!

We spent the majority of the day at Gettysburg, we drove around the area and we walked it as well, taking loads of pictures the entire time. There are so many pictures, too many to post on here, so we posted a few of our favorites and the rest can be viewed on the link below. It was so neat to walk around the same area that many people fought and died on. I'd have to say that being on Little Round Top was my favorite part of the whole thing. The view was beautiful and we were on it as the sun was beginning to set. When it was time for dinner we went to a restaurant in downtown Gettysburg called "Gettysburg Eddie's". It was a very cool environment, however the food wasn't so good, especially for the price you had to pay. When we finally checked into the hotel we relaxed and ate our dessert, it was a very nice hotel, however when we were about to go to bed I looked out the window and realized we were right next to a graveyard (our window was less than 20 feet from the closest grave.

The next day we headed out to a petting zoo that was out in the middle of no where in Pennsylvania. We discovered that it was an Amish petting zoo, it wasn't any different than any other petting zoo except for the little shop we could go into was full of nothing but homemade goods.

Petting the animals was a lot of fun, I even got over my fear of deer and fed one (given I was freaking out the whole time, I still did it). We also fed a potbelly pig and some creature that I can't remember the name of. Overall it was a blast.

After the Petting Zoo we sanitized our hands thoroughly and then went off to Buffalo Wild Wings. The closest one to us is an hour away so when I figured out we were close to one we decided we had to go there. After an interesting lunch we headed off to IKEA to get our new kitchen table and chairs. We had an adventure finding the furniture inside of the store and had an even more interesting adventure getting it home. All of it didn't fit into the car, so we ended up tying it to the top of our car, that was an interesting ride home on the PA Turnpike.

When we finally got home we unloaded the car, cuddled Tony, and passed out. Overall it was a very good two days that we won't forget.

Philly & Memory Lane

Hello everyone! As we count down to our move to Hawaii we've been staying very busy. Over the weekend we went and saw the movie Sinister (which Michael was not happy about) with a few friends. In the end Michael loved the movie but I still had to cuddle him when we went to bed just in case (isn't the man supposed to cuddle the woman?). Overall it was a very fun Friday night.

The next day we headed off to Philadelphia with those same friends, Sarah & Derek Young. We had a blast! We took a tour of Independence Hall & got to see the liberty bell. There was also a really neat restaurant that we ate at which had interesting burgers & even more interesting bathrooms. After being tourists for a bit we headed off to IKEA (after taking a detour thanks to the GPS). The boys loved it as we wandered around IKEA for over an hour, but Michael started to love it when I told him we were picking out some furniture for the kitchen in Hawaii. Overall it was a fantastic day with good friends and a good way to fill up one of our final Saturday's here.

Michael surprised me on Sunday and took me for a walk where we took all of our engagement pictures. It was such a nice day and made us realize how much we are going to miss the Fall weather once we are in Hawaii. We walked around the park for about an hour and took some pictures, we even took a few that resemble some of our engagement pictures. After wandering for a bit we ended up getting some of sushi & going to a Halloween store to look for some costumes! Then we went back home and cuddled our Tony Meow. Overall it was a great weekend.

6 months ago & now.

I couldn't leave Tony out of a blog post.

Pumpkin Day!

So we spent our Saturday at the Indian Acres Tree Farm (they sell Christmas trees when it's Christmastime). We went with our usual gang, us and two other couples. We got to go on a hayride back to the pumpkin patch and then we spent about 15 minutes running around trying to find the perfect pumpkins. Michael and I agreed on two different pumpkins, both were somewhat small, but we loved them.

Then we split into two groups (one of our friends is allergic to cornstalk so they stayed behind) and we went into a corn maze with another couple. The guys decided to be cool and try to run the maze and us girls walked it (we ended up finishing about 30 seconds after them).

After another hayride back to the front of the farm we enjoyed some cider and went back to a friends house to enjoy some dinner. We then decided to work on our pumpkins! Michael & I painted ours to look like a cat (that's the pumpkin we got for our Tony). Then we carved our other pumpkin, we gave him a very cute face. After that it was time to go home, we were all exhausted and we immediately passed out once we got home!

Overall it was a great fall day and a perfect first Halloween for me & Michael as a married couple. It's crazy to think that we only have a few more weeks here in Jersey before the big move! We're both going to miss the fall weather, but being in Hawaii right before it gets very cold is going to be very nice!

Tony & his Bubbles

At my brother's wedding instead of throwing rice or bird seed as the bride and groom left we blew bubbles at them. It ended up being very cute and mess free, but we had leftover bubbles that we brought home. I had the bright idea to blow some one night earlier this week and Tony LOVED it. It's his new favorite toy, he will actually cry when you stop blowing bubbles. It's quite cute, but can get kinda annoying. I'm not sure what we'll do when we run out of the bubbles we have, we just might have to go and buy some more.

Quick Update!

So not much has changed here in Jersey for us. Mike is still in his transition class but he graduates sometime next week (I think). We also have a date for the movers to pack up our stuff and ship it to Hawaii! It also looks like we'll be flying out to Hawaii on November 11, yippie for spending my 21st birthday on a plane!

This past weekend we were in Ohio for the last time before we move. We got to be a part of my brother's wedding which was a ton of fun for both of us. Now all the Blossom children are married!

For now it's just counting down until we move, however we have lots of fun planned between now and then. Hanging out with friends, going to Philly, pumpkin patch, Gettysburg, and a few more things! It stinks that we've made a bunch of new friends just in time to move, but we'll keep in touch with them for sure. Mike and I are ready to get to get to Hawaii and get everything moving, I'm especially ready to get a job and get started on school!

Sick Days

The past few days I've been sick, I'm pretty sure that it's a sinus infection. Michael had been feeling kinda sick earlier this week, but it seems that he has avoided the infection (lucky duck). Michael has been getting things ready for the Hawaii move and started taking his transition classes onto C17s. I've been trying to get better and watched most of the episodes of Law & Order: SVU. Guess that's what happens when you have lots of free time! Today Michael brought me home some beautiful flowers, I was so happy, it definitely helped me feel better.

I'm lucky to have such a great husband who is taking care of me while I'm sick! Hopefully I'll be better by the weekend so we can go out and have some fun. Otherwise it'll be a video game weekend! Which Michael will love.

First Post Woo!

So I decided that I had so much fun with our wedding blog that I wanted to keep a blog going! This will be an easier way for our family and friends to keep up with whatever we are doing in case we run into difficulties talking once we move (the 6 hour time difference is going to make communicating harder. I'll be posting some videos, pictures, and stories of all the things that we do. I'm really excited about this blog (I'm excited to start writing). Hopefully this will keep me entertained while we wait for the big move to Hawaii!

It may be a little while before I start writing more often, right now life is pretty clam. Michael is getting things ready for the move (paperwork wise) and I've been enjoying some down time, recovering from school and wedding planning. However we're both excited to start the move and to get to Hawaii. We're ready for the next chapter in our lives!
